”WE DO NOT WANT EVERYONE TO FIT INTO THE GAME AS IT IS…
WE WANT TO PREPARE EVERYONE TO ELEVATE THEMSELVES TO WHAT THE GAME CAN BECOME”

The Coaches Whiteboard was built to raise the standard of soccer coaching and help coaches build better players and better people. We want to create coaches that not only organize training sessions and coach games but become leaders who shape environments that help build players with confidence, discipline, intelligence and develop cultures that are defined by accountability. Through proven methodology and practical application we bridge the gap between knowledge and transformation. We help turn information into influence that creates lasting change on and off the field. We exist to raise the standards of soccer coaching for the benefit of the players. This is a resource built for those that demand more from themselves, their players and their teams and strive to create cultures of high standards.

The Coaches Whiteboard is not just a resource for coaches but for players and their families. We believe in a holistic approach.

  • We believe that player development is not something done to players but is something a player owns and believe ownership is the first step in the process. Players cannot be passive participants but must take an active role in their own growth and commit to the process, even when it is uncomfortable. Players are responsible for their mindset, their effort and the willingness to do more.

  • We believe families are a critical part of the development ecosystem. When players are supported they will grow faster, think clearer and perform with greater confidence. Players will excel in environments that effort is encouraged, learning is allowed without the fear of failure and undue external pressure that discourages the player from shaping themselves to be an influential component of any environment.

The Coaches Whiteboard is an organization that gives back and our commitment goes beyond coach and player development. We are dedicated to giving back through events and believe the game has the power to unite, inspire and strengthen communities beyond the field.

‍About the Founder…

Founder of The Coaches Whiteboard Doug Shank has been involved in coaching for over 35 years. During that time Coach Shank has served many roles and been afforded the opportunity to work with some of the most experienced and well respected coaches in the nation. He has dedicated his career to developing athletes, mentoring coaches and building championship cultures grounded in character, accountability and growth. Throughout his journey one principle remained constant: success is not only measured by wins but by the positive impact on people and communities. The desire to “give back” has always been something he has fundamentally believed in and has chosen to now share those experiences on a more formalized platform called The Coaches Whiteboard.

Doug currently holds a USSF “A License”, an “Advanced National Diploma” from United Soccer Coaches Association (formerly NSCAA) and a “National Youth License” from US Youth Soccer. He regularly attends coaches workshops and seminars and believes that the “purpose of education is to replace an empty mind with an open one”. Professionally Coach Shank has worked on all levels (youth, high school, college, semi-professional) and has lead his teams to multiple championships. He has been inducted into the Roxbury High School Hall of Fame and the Greensboro College Hall of Fame for leading his teams to unprecedented success and is known as being a “players coach”.

Coach Shank resides in Mesa, AZ, is married to wife Shannon and between them have 5 children (Shawn, Gracie, Sadie, Keegan and Dominic).
